Song for the Earth
by Elizabeth Reeke

…through the centuries (you) speak…

Sing out for the earth,
Sing out for its peoples,
Sing out in joy and in sorrow,
Sing out in pain and in compassion,
Sing out to turn the tides.

Each one, one loving step set free upon the winds,
Each one, one loving step towards peace,
Each one, one step upon the journey through the ages.

Sing out with a song that reaches into the future,
Sing out with a song that echoes through the cosmos,
Sing out with a song that will not be silenced,
Sing out to stem the tides.

Each one, one step made with eyes wide open,
Each one, one step learning the ancient wisdoms,
And each one, one step here by the winding river where the redbird sings.

Sing out for the earth,
Sing the song of all mankind,
Sing out for truth,
Sing out to stem the tides.

Sing out with the playfulness of the young filly cavorting beside the mare,
Sing out with the brilliance of the peacock serenading its mate,
Sing out with the brightness of the lightning bug skittering across the water,
Sing the song of life.

Sing out for the earth,
Sing out for its peoples,
Sing out in joy and in sorrow,
Sing out in pain and in compassion,
Sing out to turn the tides.
