Terra Australis Nondum  Cognita
by Emily Lyle

    The days, like beads on an abacus, are counted away into the past;
    The hot nights journey with the strange course of new stars.

    An albatross with a lift of its wings
    Flings out of the sunrise into reality.

    We enter dark harbour lit
    With Christmas candles of excitement.
